If you’re the type of person who’s idea of a great Friday night is the latest film releases and a bucket of popcorn, then you’re going to love the apps we’ve rounded up for you today. Whether you’re an action and adventure fan, or you like having a good old cry over a mushy romance, our four best iPhone apps for movie lovers will only improve your viewing pleasure.

Location Scout

Have you ever watched a film and thought you recognised where it was shot? Perhaps you and a friend have an ongoing argument over whether a movie has been filmed on a set or on location? With the amazing Location Scout app for the iPhone, you can satisfy your curiosity once and for all – with the ability to search either by film name or location, you can scroll through the database and create your very own virtual location tour for literally hundreds of movies.

RunPee

Probably one of our favourite iPhone apps ever, RunPee is nothing short of genius. Simply choose the film you’re about to watch from the database, and instantly see where and when the plot is slow, and whether it’s enough time to take a toilet break. Not only that, but you can also a read a synopsis of what’s happening in the film – while you’re on the loo. If that wasn’t enough, RunPee will also tell you if there are any extra scenes during the credits, so you don’t miss that vital hidden ending.

Movie Vault

If you’re a fan of classic, almost unknown films, the Movie Vault app is definitely something you’re going to adore. Featuring hundreds of films with actors and actresses such as Cary Grant and Elizabeth Taylor, for the princely sum of £1.49, you can stream them whenever you want via 3GS or wireless connection.

My Movies

Have you got literally hundreds of DVD’s, but absolutely no clue what’s in your collection? Do you spend hours hunting for a film you’re sure you’ve bought, only to realise afterwards that actually, you chose something else? If this pretty much sums you up, then you need the My Movies app, which is basically a comprehensive database consisting of every film you own. Add your collection by barcode or title search, then organise your film titles into their relevant groups, and even upload a cover photo of each one. You’ll never have to hunt through your movie collection in vain again.
